A cat is a great pet to have. Cats are known for their independence, but they still require a lot of love. I own four cats. Every cat has its own personality. A stable environment is an important thing for cats. When moving with cats there are a lot of things you will need to consider. Do they do well in a car? Do you have more then one cat? Are all of their shots up to date? How far are you moving? It is very important that you take the safety and well being of your cats very seriously if you are considering moving, especially if the trip is going to be long.

If your cat acts crazy when it is in the car, then maybe you should consider flying with your pet. Flying is dangerous in the summer because of the heat. Another great idea might be to try and get your cat used to the car before you move. This might be a great to calm their nerves when they are in the car and certainly reduce the amount of time that they spend meowing. When it comes to the transport, you will probably be doing it yourself.

Ask the company what sized moving trucks you will need. How much personal items do you have? If there is enough room in the back of the truck you should set up a secure area to where you can place the cat(s) in their caboodles. This way when you stop, you can just open the back of the truck up and you will have easy access to your cat(s). This incentive will also reduce the stress of having to listen to the constant meowing. Plan extra stops on your trip to make sure your cats are alright.

If moving your cats you may want to get a cargo van rental instead. You will have space to put your belongings as well as making sure your cats are alright. If your cat(s) can see you this might help calm their nerves too. Another important thing to get your cat familiar with is walking on a leash. Make sure to put the leash on them before you open the van door. The leash will give your cat the freedom to walk about and stretch during the trip.

Moving can cost quite a bit. If you haven’t sold the house you are leaving and you are moving into a new house you could be looking at double mortgage rates. Don’t risk the safety and health of your cat on top of that. You can get insurance as a precautionary measure. This way if your cat does get sick along the way, you will be able to save some money with animal insurance.
