What Cat Owners Need To Know
Outdoor cat care during Warm Summer Months: Remember to provide your cat access to fresh water during those warm, exhausting summer days! You cat can be your outdoor cat, and in such case I suggest that you should place water bowls at different positions in your compound. This enables your cat to find fresh, clean water at all times! Food however, can be placed in one dish in an easily accessible spot. As the days get warmer, you may notice your cat shedding fur. Don’t worry!
This quite happens. You have to make your cat feel at home with its body and surroundings. Comb it with a brush specified for cats and you will find your cat settled down well. It is recommended to start gradually, at first no more than a few minutes at a time, because your cat needs time to get used to brushing. To avoid irritating your cat, don’t brush its fur backwards — follow the direction of hair growth. Owning an outdoor cat is a lot of hard work, but definitely worth the effort. People have always considered cats very intelligent. In ancient Egypt, they even worshiped them as deities!
House cats are known for their high degree of independence, and are very difficult to train. Sometimes, however, cat behavior training is possible. The most common type of cat training is training them to use a litter box; this is done by reinforcing their natural behavior. If you’re patient, you can teach your cat to perform tricks like ringing a doorbell or playing dead. The simplest tricks that we can train cats to do are those that replicate natural behavior, such as batting around a toy mouse. Dogs train more easily than cats because they are motivated by strong desire to please and a wide variety of incentives, while cats are more self-serving.
Cats are very stubborn, and will sometimes resist training attempts, especially when one trains them by punishment. Generally, it’s easier to train dogs and quite less frustrating; a great variety of tricks can be taught to them in a much lesser time. I would recommend buying a dog instead of a cat any day. Even if I do not have in depth knowledge of cat health, I do understand why good cat health should be maintained. My cats have regular veterinary visits to ensure that they remain healthy.
I never forget, because my veterinarian reminds me with a friendly card. Shots and regular check-ups should not be skipped if you are to ensure a healthy cat in your household. Sometimes between scheduled vet visits you can tell something is wrong. If your cat is lethargic, or her coat seems dull, or she is off her food, these can be signs that your cat is not in good health. In these circumstances it is a good idea to take your pet in to your vet for an examination. After all, thats what you would do for yourself if you were not feeling well.
