Beagle Breed Advice Pet Owner Help
Although times have changed a little bit, the general association with Beagles is that they are hunting dogs and people get images of them chasing rabbits and suchlike across a field. However, whilst Beagles are still commonly associated with hunting, people underestimate the fact they make really great family pets. Now that you know a bit about this breed, lets look at what pet food you should be feeding your Beagle.
With so much choice on the pet food UK market for dogs it can be hard knowing what’s right for your pooch. The Beagle isn’t exactly a large dog, so remember not to over-feed them – they really don’t need that much to fill them. Although the Beagle makes a great pet, it is often hard to suppress their hunting instinct, so you will need to make sure that the food you feed them is nutritious and tasty enough to prevent them hunting again.
Lets look at some of the Beagle’s characteristics. The Beagle naturally has a strong sense of smell and this relates to its hunting abilities. This member of the American Kennel Club’s hound group actually comes in two sizes, under thirteen inches and thirteen to fifteen inches. It is only the difference in size that separates the two varieties, as their general features are exactly the same. Common features include the long tail and dark eyes. Its coat is short and most commonly comes in a combination of tan, black and white colours. It is also not uncommon to find tan dogs with white markings to add a nice contrast.
All dogs love their food and Beagles are no exception. If you put your dog on a diet, he will happily eat garbage. In fact, even if he isn’t on a diet, he may still hit the bins for an after-dinner snack, so it is important to control this scavenging instinct by feeding it regularly with good, wholesome pet food.
In most cases, Beagles are considered to be quite healthy. Having said that, there are some cases where Beagles start with epilepsy and suchlike, so make sure your pet has regular veterinary checks. Of course, with their propensity to overeat, Beagles can also develop weight related diseases, so feed it pet food from the UK that is healthy and nutritious.
In closing, the Beagle can make the perfect pet and it would be ideal if you’re looking for a great little friend to be a part of the family.
